According to Orthopaedic Research UK, the day runs 08:30 to 17:20 at the Gordon Museum of Pathology in London and costs £250, or £199 for an observer seat, with two mock circuits under exam conditions.
However, a course is one day and complements a bank rather than replacing one, which is why the ORUK course scores 20 out of 35 and Ortho Interview scores 29.

The 2027 ST3 T&O selection is a 13-question self-assessment worth 34 marks plus four 10-minute stations worth 50 marks each, 234 in total, so each station is 21% and the self-assessment 15%.
According to the 2025 applicant handbook from NHS England North East and Yorkshire, two interviewers score each station across five domains after five minutes of reading time. Appointability was 146 out of 232, or 63%, in 2025 and 2026; the 2027 threshold is not yet published.
NHS England reports that the 2025 round drew 684 applications for 150 posts, a ratio of 4.56 to one, so roughly 22% were appointed. Our 2027 interview overview sets out the matrix.
