The Personal Skills Assessment (PSA) forms were brought in for the 2016 applications. The PSA is advertised as a “small but important element of the application” and contributes 13% of the total marks available with 45 marks available.

They are an objective score obtained from consultants you have worked with. The thought is that these have been introduced in order to compensate for the lack of any meaningful contribution to your score on the day from your references and what role they will play in future application rounds is still uncertain.

You should approach 3 consultants you work with prior to the interview which includes either your head of department, TPD, educational supervisor or clinical supervisors and complete 3 forms which you take with you on the day pf the interview in a sealed envelope.

You get a mark out of 5 for each of 9 domains from Organisation and Planning to Situational Awareness. The full PSA form can be found on the official interview website or downloaded
here.
